Racing Roots to Rally Legends

As part of its milestone 125th Anniversary celebrations, the New York International Auto Show is proud to present a special exhibit that brings rally heritage to center stage: The Buzzetta Subaru Collection.

Curated by James Buzzetta Jr., a third-generation automobile dealer and lifelong car enthusiast, this stunning display showcases a passion for performance, precision, and Subaru’s iconic rally DNA. The collection features an extraordinary lineup of Subarus—including every generation of the rally-inspired WRX, a model beloved by enthusiasts worldwide.

“We are honored to showcase the Buzzetta Collection as part of our 125th-anniversary celebrations this year,” said Mark Schienberg, president of the New York International Auto Show. “This display represents a new generation of car collectors and enthusiasts, many of whom were introduced to racing and rallying through video games.”

But the Buzzetta story runs even deeper.

It all began with Joe Buzzetta, James’ grandfather, who transformed a humble repair shop into a thriving dealership after a pivotal encounter with legendary European car importer Max Hoffman. Joe went on to become Porsche’s first American factory race driver, forging a competitive legacy that lives on through the Competition Auto Group, now spanning five dealerships and employing over 500 people.

This special Subaru showcase is not just a tribute to a brand—it’s a celebration of family, motorsport heritage, and automotive passion that spans generations.
